Description

Continuing on the celestial seafood theme, we have the Lobster Nebula (NGC 6357) – another emission nebula in the constellation Scorpius. According to science.nasa.gov the intricate patterns of this nebula are caused by “complex interactions between interstellar winds, radiation pressures, magnetic fields and gravity”, with the very bright central region forming some of the most massive stars known. And despite being 8000 light years away,  this phenomena can revealed with some “simple” backyard by the backyard astronomer. Pretty incredible don’t you think ?
